Beyond a Rant...

Okay, so normally when I rant, it's because someone has pissed me off personally, or something has happened in my life that has a direct impact on me and my family. Lately, I have been filled to the brim with disgust over the death of Brooke Bennett, the 12 year old Vermont girl recently murdered--after years of sexual abuse--by her uncle (I'll say allegedly, even though I believe that to be a huge crock of shit). And now, Vermont authorities aren't even pursuing the sexual assault/child rape charges. WTF is WRONG with people!!!!

Last week, The Supreme Court (HA!! Supreme jackasses maybe) rejected Louisiana's law which warranted the death penalty for a convicted sex offense of a child 12 or younger. THE REASON?? Because the death penalty for such a crime does not equal the weight of the crime and therefore is a violation of t
he constitution's ban on cruel and unusual punishment. AGAIN, I say WTF!!!!

What about the child's right to be protected from cruel & unusual punishment? Is knowing your attacker will be out of prison in as little as 3 years not cruel & unusual punishment? Is a lifetime of emotional turmoil, post traumatic stress disorder, unhealthy relationships, and sometimes other self-destructive behaviors (like drug/alcohol abuse) because you need to numb the relentless pain somehow not cruel & unusual punishment? Have all the hippy-dippy ACLU douche bags forgotten who the TRUE victim is whilst "protecting the rights" of the sicko offender?

In 2005, Florida proposed Jessica's Law, calling for a minimum of 25 years to life imprisonment for a child rapist. Many states have made baby steps toward protecting our children from attacks & abuse. Granted, some laws only require registration of sex offenders, while others require more extensive imprisonment without possibility of early release; but any step in the right direction is a step closer to fully protecting our children. Which is why my heart breaks for the children of Vermont.

Vermont has the most lax punishments and penalties for sex offenders. Instead, they have a "rehabilitation" program, geared towards psychological counseling & "retraining" the way the damaged brain of baby rapists works. Guess who is a graduate of this highly effective rehabilitation program? Don't worry, I'll wait...Michael Jacques, the sick fuck who abused & murdered Brooke Bennett. Let's take a look at Mr. Jacques (pronounced Jakes):

Jacques has a history of sex crimes dating to 1985 when he was charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl about 100 times. Prosecutors eventually dismissed that case.

In 1993, Jacques was convicted of aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping. An affidavit in the case said Jacques tied up the victim and threatened to kill her while he sexually assaulted her.

He was sentenced to six to 20-years in prison, but he was released early because of the Department of Corrections' "good time" policy in effect at the time.

He was one of the Leaders of a child sex ring known as Breckenridge, which basically pimped out girls as young as nine to other men.

And did I mention he
successfully completed the state's sex offender treatment program in 2000 and was released from probation in 2006?

WAY TO GO VERMONT!!!! Now, I do want to say that I have a few cyber friends that live in Vermont & they do NOT agree with the court rulings & laws regarding child sex offenders. But, until legislation changes, baby rapists/murderers like Michael Jacques will continue to abuse innocents like Brooke Bennett.

If you are as outraged as I am about this, please contact your Representatives & Congressmen. I invite & encourage you to check out these websites for information (and PLEASE, pass it along):
